— Our Process
How It Works
On-site Survey & Spec
Survey door apertures, usage patterns and escape routes, then specify the correct doorset rating (FD30/FD60), seals, hardware and any glazing to meet the building’s fire strategy.
Supply & Pre-check
Source third-party certificated doorsets or manufacture to spec, pre-fit ironmongery and carry out off-site checks so on-site works run to programme with minimal disruption.
Install, Certify & Handover
Install to BS 8214/BS EN 1634-1 guidance, fit intumescent strips, smoke seals, closers and thresholds, then issue audit-ready paperwork, test certificates and a practical maintenance schedule.

What we install — certified fire doorsets rated FD30 and FD60, complete with intumescent and cold smoke seals, ironmongery (hinges, latches, multipoint locks where required), controlled door closers and fire-rated glazing units. We match doorsets to their location and purpose: stairwell communal doors, flat entrance doors, server room doors and commercial compartmentation. Where the project requires third-party certificated products we source Certifire/BM TRADA–certificated doorsets or supply manufacturer equivalent documentation to demonstrate compliance.
Standards, paperwork and maintenance — installations follow BS 8214 guidance and are referenced to BS EN 1634-1 fire test evidence and the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order for commercial sites. Every installation includes a handover pack with fitting records, ironmongery schedules, smoke test results and recommended servicing intervals. For clients with ongoing needs we provide planned maintenance and inspection contracts, plus RAMS and method statements for busy commercial sites.
— FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Door rating depends on its location and purpose. FD30 (30 minutes) is common for flat entrance doors and internal compartmentation; FD60 (60 minutes) is specified where higher resistance is needed. Acute Homes carries out a site survey and advises the correct rating against your fire strategy and building regulations.
